Issue #145 of Saveur magazine has an awesome spread on Persian food, including recipes. I picked up the issue because of the red velvet cake on the cover and the feature on the best cakes ever. You can imagine how tickled I was to see the article “The Land of Bread and Spice”, featuring photographs and traditional recipes from Anissa Helou’s recent visit to Iran.
Iran’s politics may be questioned, the government criticized but the culture and food is undeniably rich and beautiful. I’m so grateful for my mom’s amazing cooking and that she took the time to teach me how to make so many of these delicious dishes.
